Two minute cylinder records for sale

Two minute cylinders should only be played on a machine with two minute gearing and a two minute reproducer. The earliest two minute records were recorded on various combinations of wax. Later Edison two minute cylinders were molded in a metallic soap combination, the so-called black wax. Other companies manufactured cylinders of celluloid composition, most prominently the Indestructible record company.

Wax and black wax records are prone to mildew, and it is becoming increasingly hard to find good, clean two minute cylinders. Beware of records sold on venues such as ebay by sellers who are ignorant or incapable of assessing condition. The mildew eats into the composition of the record, and although the mildew may be removed with a fungicide, all that will remain on the record will be static. On rare occasions, only the very, very lightest dusting of mildew may be cleaned not substantially affecting the quality of the cylinder. Celluloid cylinders may be subject to warpage and shrinking, or swelling of paper cores.

Records are graded visually and often audibly.

G indicates a record in good average condition, may have some defects, scratches, minor wear or other detriments, but still playable and enjoyable.We do not sell even moderately mildewed records, unless this is an extremely rare title, and in that case condition will be noted.

Record grading: F (fair), G (good), VG (very good), E (excellent), MINT.
