Like its competitor Sears, Montgomery Ward had an arrangement to sell Columbia Graphophones through its mail order catalogue. Thornward was Ward's house brand -- a man named Thorn had been a business partner of Montgomery Ward. This Thornward is a regular Graphophone in all but the banner decal -- the bullet shaped mandrel reveals it to be a Columbia N, which was introduced ca. 1895.
