This fancy case, designated a Style 11 by Regina, was a popular Regina cabinet for many years.
The version sold here was originally coin-operated.
This is a 15.5 inch double comb machine. There are no broken teeth or tips of teeth. The comb has been pulled, cleaned and adjusted, and the upperworks and dampers have also been cleaned. The motor is working properly.
Regina coin mechanisms were temperamental, and are typically found missing much of the coin mechanism and/or converted to manual start-stop. This machine retains the original coin slot, which has been converted to a simple on/off switch. Simply push in gently to start the machine, and pull out gently and the machine will stop at the end of the tune. So in a way you get the charm of the coin-op appearance, but not the trouble of a coin-op.
The case has been nicely refinished. There is some typical minor distress to the case, as would be consistent with its history as a commercial machine. The lid picture is a reproduction. The slat in front of the bedplate, which is usually missing on coin-operated machines, has been replaced with an old, original slat from another Regina cabinet.
You can see and hear this on the youtube video below.
