This adapter will allow you to play regular 78rpm records on an Edison Diamond Disc phonograph.
Edison initially wasn't allowed to sell this type of adapter because of patent infringement, but he also wanted to protect sales of the special thick Diamond Disc records.
This adapter swivels to allow playing of both vertical and lateral cut records. Most of the 78rpm records you will find will be lateral cut, and you will most likely always keep the head in the lateral cut position.
There was a break in the pot metal neck of the this reproducer, which has been repaired wtth industrial strength epoxy. (Most of these aftermarket adapters were cast out of pot metal.) Even if the broken part of the neck was absent the reproducer would still run properly. I have also re-drilled and reset the pin on the reproducer to align it properly with the record.
This reproducer has been tested and plays nicely, and plays well with others!
