This version of the Victrola XVI was introduced ca 1909. The unusual L-shaped bottom doors are seen on only the earliest of Victrolas.
This was Victor's top-of-the-line machine. All the hardware was gold plated. The motor, tone arm and speed control are shared with the outside horn Victor VI, making this model very valuable for parts alone.
The example here is complete and working, but has not been restored. I have rebuilt the gold plated Exhibition reproducer, and you can hear the machine play when you click on the mp3 file. The cabinet has some light scratches/light distress which will disappear as part of a cleaning, polishing and touch up.
Here's a chance to own a good, collectable Victrola at a modest price.
