This ornately carved Black Forest lady's musical chair probably dates from around 1890-1910 when musical novelties such as this were popular.
Sit down and the small two tune Swiss cylinder movement starts to play. Stand up and the music stops.
The beautiful carving and seat design are in unusually nice intact condition. The legs are not split; the joints above one leg have been inconspicuously re-glued to the frame to repair normal, typically seen age-related separation.
The movement is playing nicely and the trigger has been adjusted to start properly when weight is placed on the seat.
Dimensions are approximately 38 inches tall by 18 inches wide.I'd be happy to deliver this if I am in your area, or else you are welcome to pick it up. If you want it shipped I would prefer to make arrangements for special packing, due to its relative fragility vs a standard piece of furniture.
A great Victorian decorative addition to your furnishings, and a music box as well!
