Introduced in 1900 at a price of $25, the Type A Zon-o-phone was the most expensive of Frank Seaman's new Zon-o-phone models. An improved motor with components in a stacked arrangement was fitted into a small oak case. The beveled glass side afforded a glimpse into the working of the motor.
In most examples seen, the mechanisms of the A, B and C Zon-o-phone appear identical, the only differentiation being the design of the case.
