Edison Standard Phonograph With Banner Decal for sale

Kindly don't confuse this Edison Standard Phonograph with a similar example on ebay or some other venue. This machine has been meticulously taken apart and put back together. In other words, it's been restored to make it as trouble free and acoustically excellent as possible.

This is the Model B version of Edison's famous Standard, in production ca. 1904-1909. The retention of the funky scroll banner decal, which was used on earlier machines, indicates that it dates toward the beginning of the production run.

The Standard makes an excellent starter machine, with a compact and reliable mechanism. We've done everything I can think of to make sure it stays reliable over 100 years after it left the Edison factory.

This means, among other things, that we have cleaned and lubricated the bushings, polished the governor shaft, and even pulled and re-greased the mainspring (a big job). We take apart, clean and inspect the gear cage. (In this case we found a small brass gear ready to fail, and replaced it.)

We have also rebuilt the reproducer for maximum sound.

The case on this machine has very decent original finish, with a very nice original banner decal.

Price includes 14" brass and black replica horn, and 5 very clean two minute cylinders.
