I don't have much to tell you of the history of the Bing Toy Company in Germany, other than what you can learn from Wikipedia. What I can tell you is that these little Pigmyphones were made in the 1920s, and judging from the number of surviving examples must have sold fairly well.
The horn, reproducer and arm can be contained inside the case with the lid folded. (Dimensions are approximately 5 1/2 inches square by 3 inches tall). The whole thing winds with a clock key.
The yellow lithography on this example is in very decent condition, and the motor is working. The reproducer and little tin horn appear to be original.
