Orthophonic Credenza Victrola
$1400

The Orthophonic Victrola might be considered the apex of the development of the acoustic talking machine, and remains a favorite of record collectors to this day, offering the best and most faithful way to play the records of the 1920s. The mighty Credenza, introduced around 1926, was the largest and loudest voice in the standard Orthophonic line. Collectors love these machines, and they have always placed an extra premium on the spring-motor version offered here (most were sold with electric motors). The machine we are selling is the first version of the Credenza, and marked Credenza, rather than the later version marked 8-30 which is slightly different. This machine has good original finish, with a few old scratches that we have started to polish out, and a few typical very minor dings on the trim molding. There is no veneer peel or veneer weathering. The gold plating is quite nice, and the machine has its original hardware and grill cloth. The motor is working properly, and the pot metal reproducer, which has some typical cracks on the top, is playing more than acceptably. $1400
