This entry in the A series of cylinder Graphophones was introduced in 1902.


Columbia Graphophone Type AO
The more embellished the case, the more desirable the Graphophone. At least, that seems to be the consumer logic of 1902. The appearance of the case matches closely to the early AH, Columbia's first disc machine. The latch in the center of the lid wasn't used by many cylinder Columbias, fortunately for modern collectors. It can become impossible to remove the lid if the latch is jammed.

The carriage on this machine is a replacement. The original pot metal carriages often swell and crack with age.
