Columbia Graphophone Type BNW

One of Columbia's deluxe offerings, the BNW was introduced in 1909. It was referred to in Columbia literature as the Improved Royal. The cabinetry is unique among talking machines in the manner in which it bows out toward the bottom of the case. This is a very nice example, with excellent original golden oak finish, original decal, and very nice nickel plating. The double spring motor is working smoothly. There is a tiny compression chip at the left rear of the motorboard. The oversize nickel horn, 24 inches long with 23 inch bell, really makes the machine. The horn is in overall better than average condition. There are some fine scratches from an old polishing, and a few typical small spots where the brass has corroded through, but overall it really shines and there are no dents or dings to talk about. (Some of the photographs give the horn a yellowish-green cast, but this is not the case.) A good, substantial outside horn phonograph -- put this Graphophone in your home and enjoy it! $1750
